RISE Rec ADVANCED

Rise Programs  /  RISE Rec ADVANCED

Birth Years 2013 (U6) - 2007 (U11/U12)

The RISE Rec ADVANCED program is designed for players who aspire to develop a strong technical foundation and reach a high level of competitive play. ADVANCED players desire an engaging and consistent training environment with other like-minded players where training sessions are led by professionally licensed coaches with limited assistance from volunteer parent Team Managers. ADVANCED players participate in 2 meaningful weekly pool training sessions with low coach to player ratios along with a game on the weekend that a parent volunteer Team Manager will lead. Parents can request their player’s preferred training days (M/W or T/Th) and location.

The RISE Rec ADVANCED program allows our professionally licensed coaches to focus more on individual player development. Players who would benefit from Rec ADVANCED are passionate about the game and dedicated to improving their technical ability. Rec ADVANCED players will try to excel in a challenging environment by showing the willingness to learn and compete. Will this be fun? Absolutely! Players who choose this program should be committed to making a majority, if not all of their team’s training sessions and games. Rec ADVANCED players will value the training environment, player opportunities, and professional coaching oversight. These teams will play games against the teams in the Rec and Rec ADVANCED Programs but there will be both team and individual player opportunities outside of those games. This program is designed as a pathway for the player that has ambition to eventually play at the top competitive levels at RISE. RISE Recreational Coaching Staff members will lead the 2 weekly training sessions for ADVANCED players. The RISE Coach who leads a Rec ADVANCED training session may not always be the team’s regular coach. Keep in mind that coaches have different personalities, communication skills, and motivational methods that will often create different synergies because of the way each coach relates to a player and/or teams. Ultimately, we want as many RISE coaches as possible to get to know the player pool so that RISE can have a broader evaluation on each player. While we understand that parents may have concerns about not having their assigned coach at every training session, there are many positives for players to hear different voices and opinions. RISE uses the pool training concept for RISE Rec ADVANCED teams to ensure players are consistently in high quality, coaching staff led, training environment. Pool training shifts the focus away from team development and prioritizes individual player development. During pool sessions, RISE players will be grouped together with players who have similar skill levels with the understanding that players develop in different stages. Increased competition, an improved training environment, and accelerated player development are all by-products of the pool training.

Some additional pool training benefits include:

  • Deliberate and consistent implementation of age appropriate training activities
  • The objective is to develop individual players, not teams
  • The specific needs of players can be addressed individually
  • By grouping players by birth year and ability, the developmental gaps between players is narrowed and meaningful competition is improved
  • Flexibility and fluidity ensure that players are consistently being placed in the right training environment
  • Improved club culture and spirit
  • Opportunities to build relationships and friendships across an age group
  • Allows young players to expand their social boundaries
  • Consistent evaluation and feedback provided by numerous members of the coaching staff

While it is understood that the RISE Rec ADVANCED model is an upgrade and more competitive in nature than the basic RISE Rec format, it is important for our families to understand that this is not a competitive program. At our Recreational game sites, we will often have RISE Rec Coaching Staff members present to make sure things flow appropriately.

Developing Skilled and Creative Players

There are no shortcuts to player development; success requires a long term approach and commitment. Player success is directly correlated to the player environment a young athlete is exposed to. RISE provides it’s Rec ADVANCED players with a fun, safe, and developmentally appropriate learning environment where our professionally licensed Coaching Staff can help players develop their technical skills in ways that encourage players to express their individual creativity without the fear of making mistakes. The RISE Rec ADVANCED model encompasses both formal and creative learning methods to accomplish these goals. The program is designed to help the growth and development of young players both socially and technically so they are prepared to advance within the game at the level they desire.

Formal Learning - Fundamental Skills

The RISE Rec ADVANCED Program focuses on individual skill development, building confidence in players and maximizing player creativity by allowing kids to learn the game gradually in a fun, engaging environment. Our Recreational Coaching Staff wants players to feel comfortable and confident when they have the ball at their feet. To accomplish this, our coaches will help players build a strong fundamental skill foundation seasonally, by introducing proper ball-handling basics and technique through a series of age-appropriate activities that will grow progressively.

Creative Learning - Street Soccer

The street soccer concept is a learning method that emerged from playing soccer in the street. This informal and unstructured play format was essentially a neighborhood pickup game where any player could simply just jump in and play. By introducing street soccer to our weekly recreational programming, the RISE Recreational Coaching Staff will have the flexibility to mix players together by their play levels, regardless of their genders and age groups. This format will keep the games fresh, meaningful and engaging for our players.
