Friendship Cup – October 5-6, 2019

The 38th annual Friendship Cup will be hosted by RISE SC at Community Park over the weekend for U6 to U12 boys and girls recreational teams. The Friendship Cup is a full-blown event exclusively for recreational teams. The tournament offers friendly competition in a family oriented, fun atmosphere, on fields of the highest quality.

RISE Rec teams from all our campuses will participate. We will also have recreational teams from around the greater Houston area, and we welcome recreational teams from everywhere to play in this fantastic event. The Friendship Cup is open to boys and girls rec teams, school teams and church league teams. The Friendship Cup is second to none!

Late Registration
Any teams registering after September 29th will be wait-listed and will mainly be accepted only to complete brackets or to replace withdrawn teams.

Who This Tournament is For

This tournament is for Rec level teams. That is, teams that play in in-house rec leagues for clubs, neighborhoods, schools, or church groups. It is also open to teams that play in rec-level competition, such as Division 3 in HYSA/BAYSA/TYSA, or for the lower-level teams in Academy competition (such as PDF Bronze, HYSA WW, etc). If you are not a rec level team, this is not the tournament for you, though we will have other tournaments such as our Power Cup in February.

* In the event that brackets are in need of teams, the Tournament Director reserves the right to use lower level competitive teams to fill these slots.

Teams will generally play in 2-year age groups: U6, U7/U8, U9/U10, and U11/U12. The team’s age is determined by the oldest player on the team.

Tournament Format

We will follow US Soccer guidelines for playing format: 4v4 (no goalkeepers) for U6/U7/U8, 7v7 for U9/10, 9v9 for U11/U12. We will strive to provide 3 games per team, plus finals.

What Must Teams Provide to Participate

Teams must have medical releases* for all players, and enter all players names in their tournament roster in GotSoccer. Teams must provide either a signed roster or a letter from their organization’s registrar or head verifying that the players named are properly registered to the team and of the appropriate age. You will also need to have a copy of proof of age of your players. Proof of age can be a player passcard (ID Card) issued by a USSF-affiliated organization (STYSA or other USYSA affiliate, US Club, SAY, or AYSO), birth certificate, passport, or other official ID which shows the player’s age.

*Medical releases can be obtained here. Players do not need to be registered to USYSA to use this medical release.
