RISE Joins Girls Academy League
RISE is proud to announce that we are joining the Girls Academy for the 2020-21 season and will compete with the other exceptional clubs that make up the Frontier Conference.
After the recent termination of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy (DA) program for both boys and girls, Development Academy clubs nationwide have collaborated to create a platform that has the best interests of all players and clubs across the country. As of today, the girls’ competitive platform has been defined by unifying DA clubs from conferences across the country to form the Girls Academy.
The Girls Academy League has found a way to maintain the defining standards of the Girls DA, but with flexibility in two critical areas that allow clubs to better utilize their player pools, especially when showcasing their players to college coaches:
• Permission for all players to participate in High School Soccer
• Revising the substitution rules (re-entry allowed)
The Girls Academy prioritizes meaningful training and games as part of its 10 month season. The league fully intends to have cross-over play between conferences, college showcases, and a National Championship Series for the 2020/2021 season. In addition, players will receive various talent identification opportunities through both league play and at Showcase events.
RISE will enter teams in the U13, U14, U15, U16, U17, and U18/19 age groups, with the preseason starting in late July, and league schedules beginning in September. RISE will be providing funding for the U18/19 Girls Academy team.
RISE has a great history of developing talent in the heart of Houston, West University Place, Bellaire, Missouri City, Sienna Plantation, and Sugar Land. The Girls Academy League not only allows us to offer elite programming for girls in and around our city, but it exponentially strengthens our player development pyramid for our female athletes. We look forward to providing more opportunities for female soccer players in our community.
